Delivery Man Charged After Woman Dragged To Death In North Babylon Hit-Run

A driver for AutoZone has been charged after he allegedly struck a woman with his van and dragged her hundreds of yards to her death in Suffolk County.

The incident happened at around 1 p.m. Monday, July 29 in North Babylon. A second victim, a man, was also struck and suffered injuries.

The 26-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a 2017 Dodge Ram work van when he struck Ann Marie Christina, 38, of East Quogue, and Eric Krems, 40, in front of AutoZone, located at 1295 Deer Park Ave., Suffolk County Police said.

The driver, identified as Donnell Hicks, did not stop and continued traveling northbound on Deer Park Avenue while dragging Christina, who was caught underneath the vehicle., according to police 

Hicks made a right hand turn onto Shade Street in Deer Park, at which time Christina became dislodged from the van and came to rest in the roadway and Hicks continued on his route, said police.

Christina was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she was pronounced dead. Krems was treated and released from Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed Hicks might be at the AutoZone, located at 595 Portion Rd, Ronkonkoma. Police responded to the location and located Hicks just before 2 p.m.

Hicks was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, July 30.
